Family - Sawyer {North Texas Family Photographer}
The Sawyer's were my third Summer Mini session of 2011 and even though it was 8am - it was SO humid! Everyone was so cooperative and took direction SO well that the session went by so quickly and we were able to get a great variety of shots, despite the heat! I love how the yellow just pops out of the photos it adds such a vibrant boost! The Sawyers were so wonderful and just a lovely family to have the chance to photograph!

Senior Session - Kierra {North Texas Senior Photographer}
Back in March I had the honor of shooting Callisburg High School's 2011 Senior, Kierra. She is an awesome girl that reminded me SO much of myself! From style (jeans and tees all the way!), personality and attitude. Being both beautiful AND intelligent, she's got a bright future ahead of her! We had a great session filled with many locals all over Gainesville and Callisburg and I loved the photographic results!
And a 16x20 Storyboard Template

I love photographing seniors and teens - they are always up for fun, quick and easy to shoot and I can always shoot such a variety of photographs!
Until next time....

Time Flies! - Ft Worth, Texas Children's Photographer
I can't believe the entire month of July went by and I didn't have time for ONE post! However, looking back on the month - my life was pretty crazy and my daily routine was severely changed when my Husband was hurt at work and has been home due to the injury. With all the dramas and regular life occurrences, it took me almost the whole month to complete a session from the very end of June. Bad, bad, bad Jess - I know! But, it's hard to be creative when life is throwing so many lemons your way. I think of each one of my photos as it's own piece of artwork. I like to take my time and make each photo special. Cranking out simple photos with little to no edits is just not my style. Why pay me to take your photos if they look like something you can do on your own? Exactly - you wouldn't. That's why they are each their own little piece of art. ;)
Anyways, speaking of my June session, here are some of my favorites from the shoot. As always you can find the full galleries at Facebook as well as MySpace!

August is looking to be pretty full (thankfully since my Husband is not working!!) - I've got to finish a session with three gorgeous little beauties and their Mom, a whole family tree session as well as an engagement session! I am also looking forward to photographing the auction winner from the session I donated to a friend who is trying to raise money for her father to have a heart transplant. I am happy to say that my session earned one of the largest amounts at the auction! Another exciting bit for later this month is that my little girl will be starting pre-k! I am going to miss her so much - I just wish I could sit in her class everyday and watch her silly antics! Oh to be a fly on in the wall in her classroom! ;)
More to come soon, I PROMISE! lol! I keep saying that-don't I! Well, I will have more time later this month when my baby is at school all day! ;)

Amazing Giveaway! - North Texas Photographer
Fellow photographers, check out the GIVEAWAY & Sale for Skye’s new Workshop Workbook!! It's a MUST have (or WANT - in my case!)! If only I could afford it, it would be mine! Until then, I have to enter all the giveaways she has for it! ;)
Visit the website at http://www.theworkshopworkbook.com!
This amazing giveaway is offered up TWICE this time. Skye has teamed up with Florabella Collection and they are both offering the same goodies!
Check out Florabella here: http://florabellacollection.com/
Since I am just starting my photography business, I don't have the extra revenue to buy awesome extras for my business. Luckily, thanks to the web - there are a LOT of giveaways for photographers. All I have to do is spread the word about such giveaways to be entered. So from time to time, expect to see posts similar to these. Because even if I only have a small chance of winning, I am going to attempt to anyways! ;)

Now Selling Prints on Etsy - North Texas Photography
It takes a lot of pushing to get me to have faith in myself apparently. LOL ;) I've been told many times that my random artsy shots are quite good and that I should try selling them. So I am finally listening and now that I've had an empty Etsy shop for several months now - I am starting to fill it with product. I am still working on adding my favorite images, but feel free to check it out in the mean time. If the image you've had your eye on is not listed, drop me a line at capturedbyjess@ymail.com and I'll get it added to the shop. Click on the banner to be taken directly to my Etsy Shop. ;)

What 2 Wear, Families - North Texas Family Photographer
One of the most frequently asked questions I get from clients is "What should we wear?" And it's not the most easy question to answer. Everyone has their own style - and that should DEFINITELY shine through in your session. The trick is to have everyone in a similar color pallet, while still maintaining each persons individuality.
Since the most common session I have is families I am going to start my series of What 2 Wear there. Since I allow multiple clothing changes with each session, we can allot for individual photos taken of each person in their favorite outfit but when everyone is in a shot together - it needs to be cohesive but still visually appealing. Coordinate but don't go the khaki shorts with white polo's route.
Here's an example of coordinating summer looks for the whole family::

Clothes from OldNavy.com
Included with your custom photography session is a bit of styling, so if you NEED the help- don't be afraid to ask! If you need to fill your trunk up with everyone's closets and bring them to the session- no problem! ;)
This What 2 Wear series is a tool to help you come up with an idea for the look of your session as well as me trying to explain with visual detail what I am talking about when I say coordinating, not matching.

That'll do, Donkey. That'll do... - North Texas Photography
As you may, or may not know - my parent's own a miniature donkey farm in Callisburg, Texas - Grasshopper Hill Miniature Donkey's. I've photographed their donkey's ever since they got their very first one several years ago. While we were there for Memorial Day, my Mom asked me to get some shots they could use on their website so I roamed around with my camera and got tons of shots. I spent the day today editing them. Here's a peek of what I came up with - you can find the full gallery on Facebook or MySpace.

Small Update - Gainesville, Texas Photographer
It's been forever since I've had time to update the blog portion of this website! I should be a better blogger, but I've been working very hard elsewhere trying to get this business rolling!
Last night I had a booth at Callisburg's got Talent at the Elementary School in order to promote my photography within the area. I met a lot of great people and took a lot of photos of the kids performing! I held a drawing for a free session and I've been trying to contact the winner, but haven't gotten a response. If I don't hear from them by Monday I will pick another winner! As far as the photos from the performances go, I will post a few here as soon as they are edited and full galleries on MySpace and Facebook!
In other news I've been prop collecting like crazy and I can't wait to use them all! I found two old suitcases today so now I am on the hunt for an old (rarely traveled) dirt road to take pictures on!
I've had a few hiccups along the way, but I am still motivated to make my photography dreams come true! As always, (and hopefully more frequently!) until next time - with more Captured by Jess

i♥faces photo challenge entry - North Texas Children's Photographer
Over at i♥faces, they run weekly photo challenges and this week the challenge is "Collage". This will be my second time to enter one of their challenges. The funny thing is that I made this collage last night of my daughter Zoey, not even thinking about the challenge at i♥faces! I, by chance clicked their link on my blog today to check out what was going on over there and saw this week was collage week. Rather than making a new collage (which is what I initially was thinking of doing) I decided to stick with the simplicity of this collage. My silly little girl and I playing around with the camera one night as she "posed" herself for her close up. LOL I love it cause it shows ALL of my eccentric girl's personalities. HA!

There are tons more entries to the "Collage" challenge at i♥faces, click their button below to see the other amazing photographs!
